BELLINGHAM HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA CLUB CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I

NAME: The name of this organisation shall be Drama Club.

ARTICLE II

PURPOSE: The purpose of this organisation is to sponsor school plays and provide students of the ASB an opportunity to produce shows.

ARTICLE III

MEMBERSHIP: All members of the focus program and ASB of BHS are eligible to join.

A) The Drama director shall determine members of the focus program by audition.

ARTICLE IV

OFFICERS:

Section 1: The members of the executive board of Drama Club will be two co-presidents, a secretary/historian, a treasurer/historian, two members at large, and a representative from Stage Crew.

Section 2: All active members are eligible for these offices. Only juniors or seniors are eligible for the office of co-president. One of the co-presidents must be a member of ASB of BHS.

A) Co-presidents will be elected individually, with at least one from BHS

Section 3: All candidates will be nominated for certain positions by the members of this organisation and will be elected in September.

Section 4: The newly elected officers will take their offices beginning the day of the election.

Section 5: Duties of the officers shall be:

A) Co-Presidents-uphold this Constitution, preside over all regular meetings, and schedule meetings.

B) Secretary/Historian-preside over meetings in the absense of both co-presidents, keep minutes of all meetings, post minutes in drama room, put meeting notices in the bulletin, write all correspondences with community members, keep a scrap book of all plays, shows, and community events sponsored by the club.

C) Treasurer/Historian-preside over meetings in the absense of both co-presidents and secretary, keep up-to-date record of club's finances, keep a scrap book of all plays, shows, and community events sponsored by the club.

D) Members at Large-stand in for any absent board member, coordinate fundraising, danses, and the end of the year party.

E) Stage Crew Representative-speak for Stage Crew, and keep an up-to-date record of the status of Stage Crew's position with regards to the club.

Section 6: All members of the executive board will have an equal vote in matters decided within the board.

ARTICLE V

MEETINGS: Drama Club shall meet once a month with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Meetings will normally be held on Fridays in the theater, fifteen minutes after school is out. The executive board shall meet once a week, and always the day before a full drama club meeting.

ARTICLE VI

SERVICES: The services of this organisation shall be:

A) To organise a fall and spring production, as well as a What-a-Sho.

B) To provide services for BHS and the community as the club sees fit.

ARTICLE VII

ADVISORS: Drama Club will have one faculty advisor-the Drama Director.

ARTICLE VIII

AMENDMENTS:

Section 1: submitting amendments to the membership may change the Constitution. Under the consideration of the advisor, a 2/3-majority vote is required to amend or change the Constitution.

Section 2: submitting amendments to the membership may change Bylaws. Under consideration of the advisor, a 2/3-majority vote is required to amend or change the Bylaws.

BYLAWS

Section 1: All members of the ASB of BHS and the focus program may audition for a part in a school play or talent show. Play involvement is not restricted to members.

Section 2: All cast and crewmembers must comply with all parts of the activity code. Receiving a failing grade on the "Activity Code Eligibility Check" makes an actor/crew person ineligible to perform. The student may still rehearse, but should the play go up when they have the 'F,' they will not be able to perform. However, should the student receive an 'I' ('Improve') on the grade check, they are again eligible.

Section 3: Drama Club shall be established as a troupe under the International Thespian Society.

LETTERING

Section 4: Drama Letter requirements shall be based on the point system of the International Thespian Society.

Section 5: Members hoping to earn a Letter must comply with all parts of the activity code (section 2).

Section 6: Only involvement in BHS productions will count toward Letter (not community or summerstock theatre, rentals or hired shows).

Section 7: Members must participate in the production of two of the three shows, and additionally accumulate 6 points to letter. Letter points may not be accumulated from year to year.

Section 8: Points shall be kept and tabulated by Advisors with assistance from the Secretary/Historian.

Section 9: There is a 4 letter limit-no student may earn more than four Drama varsity letters in their high school career (one a year).
