
Bill
McClement – Head Coach

A former state champion from
South Carolina, Coach McClement, went on to run for Washington. As a Husky, he
qualified for the NCAA Championships in both cross-country and track. He placed 11th in the Pac-8
Championships in 1977 as the Huskies finished 2nd overall. Then
McClement was the first Husky in the NCAA Championships as the Huskies finished
13th nationally. In track,
Coach ran 8:21 for 3,000 meters and 29:27 for 10,000 meters. Following
graduation, McClement won the 1982 Seattle marathon in 2:20:02. Then he placed
13th in the 1983 Chicago marathon (trained by former UW coach Alan
Bonney). McClement’s PR’s include 9:03 (2 miles), 13:47 (3 miles), 23:32 (8k),
29:22 (10k), 48:28 (10 miles), 64:05 (half marathon), and 2:17:23 (marathon).
He competed for Adidas for six years (1982-1988) and was a 1984 U.S. Olympic
Trials qualifier.

(1,600 meters), 9:18 (3,200 meters); Chris Kwiatkowski, 4:16.58 (1,600 meters),
9:05.88 (3,200 meters).
Coach McClement is married to Mary Deacon McClement and they
have three sons. He teaches English full time.
