Video Production I is a one-semester course designed to introduce students to the process of creating an interesting and meaningful video piece intent on communicating information. Students will explore the production process from concept to reality. Emphasis will be placed on communicating a clear message along with visual images through journalism. Students will work both behind and in front of the camera, gaining an appreciation for all aspects of the production process. Technically speaking, students will master a wide variety of talents using digital video technology. Students will also explore the impact and power of media, thus creating a more informed consumer of the messages that bombard us each day. This class is a pre-requisite to Video Production II, and space is limited. Both video productions classes are college articulated, allowing an opportunity for students who score a B or better in both courses to obtain college credit.

Video Production II is designed for students who have more than a passing interest in the field. The emphasis will center on the student’s desire to explore more complex uses of the technology. This includes graphics, post production and longer pieces of work. Students will be challenged to use the technology in more subtle ways, exploring innovations that they may not have considered before. Students will also explore career opportunities in the field, making meaningful connections to their own futures. Emphasis is on video technology to communicate through journalism. This class requires a commitment to spend time working outside of the regular school day. Both video productions classes are college articulated, allowing an opportunity for students who score a B or better in both courses to obtain college credit.
